Riyadh: The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Riyadh facilitated voting for Tajik community members residing in Saudi Arabia as part of the legislative elections held on March 2, 2025. The polling center at the embassy operated from morning until 8 PM, allowing voters to elect deputies to the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli (Parliament).

According to the source, Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Akram Karimi, expressed gratitude to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its cooperation in ensuring a smooth electoral process. The Riyadh embassy served as the only polling center in the Kingdom for Tajik nationals living and working in Saudi Arabia.

Tajikistan’s Majlisi Namoyandagon consists of 63 deputies elected through ballot voting. Six political parties participated in the elections, with 220 candidates, including independents, contesting for seats. President Emomali Rahmon, leader of the ruling People's Democratic Party, cast his vote in Dushanbe at polling station No. 15.

According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), Tajikistan has over five million registered voters. The election process included 3,513 polling stations nationwide and 36 overseas polling centers. Of the 63 parliamentary seats, 41 were filled through constituency voting, while 22 were allocated to party-nominated candidates.

The elections were monitored by 229 international observers from various organizations, with coverage by 203 local and foreign media representatives. Voting stations in Tajikistan closed at 8 PM local time on March 2, with preliminary results expected within hours and final results to be announced within two weeks.
